NEW BMW X6 2010 ACTIVEHYBRID, features & photos

After the Bavarian manufacturer introduced the new BMW 7 Series Hybrid, now offering 2010 BMW X6 ActiveHybrid, both gasoline and electric-powered hybrid model. In fact, the X6 will be the first hybrid vehicle sold by BMW as it will arrive here in December, several months before the Series 7. This is because, like all other models are made in Spartanburg, North Carolina plant, X6 ActiveHybrid will be offered on the first North American market, which is not the case for the Series 7.

Of course, sports is the SUV and the BMW X6 does not intend to try to rival the Toyota Prius, far from it. Conversely, producers want to offer machines that perform like a V8 but with fuel consumption similar to a V6. I do not think that having a BMW X6 with the logo "Hybrid" in your yard you will win any prize for environmental activism, but at least, it will provide good-to-make a clear conscience and save them from a few seem to agree.

Hybrid or diesel?
Although manufacturers of diesel engines offered with X5, you have to wonder which future technologies - hybrid, fuel cell or diesel - the plant will eventually choose. Given the uncertainty, there is no technology that can be excluded in order not to lose the opportunity. In addition, according to Jochen Frey, BMW's communications director, many of the technologies will be available in future and option will become matter how you plan to use the vehicle. However, because the BMW diesel tends to combine with the performance, he would not have made more sense to offer the X6 and X5 with a diesel engine with a hybrid engine, considering the objectives of each other? In Europe, the X6 is offered with a diesel engine which, unfortunately, is not the case here, although this is a safe bet that the X5 ActiveHybrid is soon to follow. Problem solved ...

Compared with the conventional version, the BMW X6 ActiveHybrid have some differences. With the exception of a few symbols that identify it, the type of machine is pulling all the attention. Version was only offered a very good models equipped with the same machine with the X6 50i, a 4.4-liter biturbo display for 400 horses 450 lbs-ft of torque. Throw in a 2.4 KW electric motor for the total power of 480 hp and 575 pounds-ft of torque and you have the most powerful hybrid SUVs currently on the market with a 0-100 km / h time of 5.6 seconds. Not bad for environmentally friendly vehicles .

This engine is paired with a continuously variable transmission and seven-speed automatic, as with all versions of the X6, the all-wheel-drive come standard. Developed jointly with Daimler-Chrysler Corporation, now defunct, this BMW technology similar to Toyota's that allows you to drive in electric mode. In the case of X6, you can accelerate to 60 km / h or drive a distance of about 2.5 miles in electric mode, but very difficult to do without making those who participate in the back can not wait. This is a general criticism of all hybrid vehicles. There's a world of difference between theory and practice.
