Space-Time Cloak Possible, Could Make Events Disappear?

Prehistoric scene/museum exhibit: 
this ground sloth would have strongly preferred for a certain event [the attack by the saber-toothed cat] to disappear.
But now it's too late.
It doesn't take "a series of unfortunate events."
A single one might do it.
