A year ago I featured this special, handmade (and very personalized) necklace I received from the sister of one of my high school friends. I still cherish the precious thing–Heidi, the artist, used photos of my children and other significant images that fit into my life in one way or another, and created lovely, vintage-style charms. I’d tell you how exceedingly “charming” it is…but I’m afraid you’d think I was corny.
I am corny. But charming is the best word to describe the necklace.
And nostalgic is the only word to describe this bracelet, which Heidi’s sister brought me when she traveled here for our girls’ weekend this summer.
This charm made me cry. The Kiddie Park is a tiny amusement park run by the Jaycees in my hometown. It’s been there since I was a little girl, and everyone I grew up with has precious memories of the place. When I saw this charm, I could taste cotton candy.
Murphy’s. Oh, Murphy’s, Murphy’s, Murphy’s. Home of the hot hamburger and the garlic salad dressing and the memories of family dinners and dipping my french fries in my brother’s dark brown gravy. My hometown will always be my hometown as long as Murphy’s is there.
The entrance of Woolaroc Museum. I love Woolaroc so much, I haul my kids there a few times a year. I love it so much, I dragged the Food Network camera crew there when they were here filming because it’s so much a part of me.
I love Woolaroc so much, I took my friend Sarah‘s children there when they were visiting last April.
That there’s my hometown.
That there’s the cookbook I done wroted.
I would like to state for the record that this is my high school alma mater…NOT my college alma mater. Ahem. Important distinction.
Go ‘SC!
As you can see, I really love this bracelet. It’s special. It makes me feel good.
And I love the packaging. This is a simple white gift box that’s been “stained” to look antique.
Gorgeous.
Heidi has pieces ready to order (check out the Vintage Texas Bracelet and the Vintage License Plate Bracelet) but she also does custom work from images and items that are significant to the recipient. If you have a friend or family member that has a milestone coming up–a kiddo leaving for college, a grandmother’s birthday, an anniversary–look into one of these sweet things.
